___ A cool November evening found as, as usual, in the dimly lit corner booth of Dennys. At the counter sat a mildly amusing widower, to his left, an aging Vietnam vet. But what caught my eye were the inhabitants of the booth beyond: several teenagers, clad in steel chains and faded black tees, with blood shot eyes and sallow cheeks.

(my grandmother says)___ Shes quite convincing, too, citing the rise in teenage pregnancy, juvenile crime, and kids like those we met in Dennys.
No, grandma, not everyone in the 12-20 demographic is a crack-addict mother
(I say, somewhat defensively)Some are crack-addict fathers
(she retorts)I saw this was getting me nowhere, so I tried a different approach...
