Junior Graphic & Web Designer

i9design is hiring. We are looking for a solid graphic designer who also has moderate knowledge of (and a deep yearning to learn) web design / CSS / WordPress and internet marketing technologies. The ideal candidate would also have excellent communication skills and be able to write and edit content.

We work with eCommerce systems, online booking custom engines, custom database development, complete brand & marketing packages and more. We create WordPress websites that empower our clients and look great on all devices.
i9design and Adrian Wagner Studio have an intimate knowledge of photographing professionally for both the web and print mediums and know the impact stunning work can have on marketing campaigns. i9design is known for being contemporary, artistic and to continually push the envelope of our craft. Over the past 2 years we have begun to offer commercial photography and video production to our clients.
About the Position
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Web Design within the WordPress framework
- Editing Images
- Updating and writing content
- Performing website maintenance
- Communication with clients and scheduling
- Keeping track of projects and tasks
- Designing banner ads and social media graphics
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Experience with Lightroom a bonus)
- Understanding of interactive design principles, web usability and familiarity with web trends and best practices for UX/UI design
- Great sense of minimal and clean design, layout, and colour
- Excellent attention to detail and customer service
- Excellent oral/written communication skills and excellent typographic skills
- Proven ability to effectively manage time and deadlines and prioritize workload
- Ability to take ownership of work assigned and work independently to solve problems
- An open and flexible approach with a strong desire to learn new things
- Knowledge of Google Apps, including Google docs, calendar, and sheets
- Available to work regular hours Monday – Thursday, 20-30 hours per week in Nelson BC
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS or a strong desire to acquire these qualifications:
- Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices
- Knowledge of social media best practices to drive engagement and brand awareness
- Competency in HTML5 and CSS3
- Working knowledge of WordPress
- Some knowledge of Javascript
- Excellent skills in copy editing and writing professional content
- Project management skills
- Photography and photo editing
Compensation
- $18/hr- $20/hr to start, based on experience
